DREAMS...and other altered states of consciousness
by Marilyn Stacy
Sample poem from Dreams:
Spirits Residing
Amazing grace washes over me
in the plain adobe church in Taos.
Spirits, visible as white light,
dance on the altar,
brightening aura of priest and servers.
All my senses are engaged, heightened
by the scent of flowers,
the pew's slight curve cradling my body
and the soprano voice soaring,
surrounding me, that lifts my soul
to the childhood comfort
of my mother's presence.
My warm tears of memory
season the flat bread and sharp wine,
human joining with divine.
The recessional hymn, Ode to Joy,
is celebration.
I am transported home again.
